The Children's Central Intake Unit is the gateway into our programs serving children between the ages of 3-17. The intake process begins with referrals via telephone or face-to-face contact and is accomplished by a comprehensive initial evaluation. Consumers and families are then referred to an appropriate service within the agency or to an outside agency.

On occasion, Community Council will have to remain unopened, open late or dismiss early because of weather or other emergency conditions. This policy gives guidance on the procedures to be followed if such an event occurs.

Building Closure or Delayed Opening
In instances when Community Council will not be in operation for a full work day, or operation will begin at a later time, announcements will be made at 7:20 am and 7:50 am on KYW News Radio, which is 1060 on AM radio or on the web at www.kyw.com under Community Closures. We will also have a recorded message on our general telephone number, (215) 473-7033, giving information as to the closure or delayed opening. In severely inclement weather, such as a major rain, wind or snow storm, please check with these sources to learn of Community Council's operating schedule.

Early Closing
If weather or other emergencies require that we cease operations, each program manager will be notified by telephone, and/or email, as soon as possible. The program managers are responsible for notifying their employees of an early closing.

Employees Located in School District Facilities
Community Council employees whose work locations are within Philadelphia School District buildings are to follow the directions of the school district in not reporting, reporting at a later time, or departing early.

Notification to Consumers
Notices will be placed in consumer used areas to instruct them to call our main number, and to listen to KYW Radio during major weather problems to determine if Community Council will be open for business.
